Keeping Your Account Secure

Your security is our priority at PeerMetals. By taking proactive steps, you can protect your account and personal information from unauthorized access or malicious activity. Follow these tips to keep your account secure.

1. Use a Strong Password

  • Length and Complexity: Create a password with at least 12 characters, including upper and lower-case letters, numbers, and special symbols.

  • Unique Passwords: Avoid reusing passwords from other platforms or websites.

  • Avoid Predictable Choices: Don’t use easily guessed information, such as your name, birthday, or common phrases.

2. Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)

  • Add an Extra Layer: Activate 2FA to require a one-time verification code in addition to your password when logging in.

  • Use Authenticator Apps: Choose trusted apps like Google Authenticator or Authy for generating secure 2FA codes.

3. Protect Your Email

  • Secure Your Email Account: Use a strong, unique password for the email account linked to PeerMetals.

  • Beware of Phishing Emails: Never click on suspicious links or attachments in unsolicited emails claiming to be from PeerMetals.

4. Monitor Account Activity

  • Check Login History: Regularly review your login history in your account settings for unfamiliar activity.

  • Update Contact Information: Ensure your email and phone number are up-to-date so you can recover your account if needed.

5. Be Cautious with Public Networks

  • Avoid Public Wi-Fi: Use a secure, private network when accessing your PeerMetals account.

  • Use a VPN: A Virtual Private Network (VPN) adds an extra layer of encryption when browsing on public or unsecured networks.

6. Recognize and Avoid Scams

  • PeerMetals Emails: Verify that emails from PeerMetals come from our official domain (peermetals.com). Avoid sharing login information via email.

  • Beware of Impersonators: Never give account details to anyone claiming to be PeerMetals support outside of official channels.

7. Update Your Password Regularly

  • Change your password periodically, especially if you suspect any unauthorized access or if other platforms you use have experienced breaches.

8. What to Do If Your Account is Compromised

  • Reset Your Password: Immediately reset your password using the "Forgot Password" option on the login page.

  • Contact Support: Notify PeerMetals support through the Contact Us page for assistance in securing your account.

  • Review Your Account: Check for unauthorized changes or activity and take steps to protect your linked payment methods.
